KUNEKUNE PORK
Kunekunes are a rare heritage pig, small in size (300 lb). Meat is a rich deep pink to red, and beautifully marbled throughout. Overall good health and the highest possible nutritional profile of our Kunekunes are achieved naturally by feeding them grass, hay and garden products, supplemented with the best sourced custom blend feed of whole grains, peas, flaxseed, kelp meal, and bran.
Unlike commercially grown hogs, which are specifically bred to grow fast lean muscle mass, Kunekunes are a traditional heritage breed, which grow slower, producing a richer, redder meat.
We pasture-raise our Kunekunes for a minimum of 12-16 months. The result is a delicious, flavourful pork, marbled with pure white fat that will melt in your mouth. The flavour of this pork is truly indescribable.
Our commitment to the high standard of care given to our pigs results in a pork which has a very high nutritional profile, containing many vitamins and minerals including vitamin d, and omega 3's and omega 6's.
PORK PRICE LIST
We are now taking reservations for spring Pork 2021. At this point we will not be at the farmers market. Pork can be purchased directly at our farm, we will also be making monthly deliveries to the Halifax area.
Pork Price List:
WHOLE HOG ~ $7/lb, includes custom cut and wrap.
HALF HOG ~ $7.50/lb, includes custom cut and wrap.
